I took a deep breath this morning as I read through this passage in Job where God is reminding Job of his Omnipotence:
“Where were you when I created the earth? Tell me, since you know so much! Who decided on its size? Certainly you’ll know that! Who came up with the blueprints and measurements? How was its foundation poured, and who set the cornerstone, While the morning stars sang in chorus and all the angels shouted praise? And who took charge of the ocean when it gushed forth like a baby from the womb? That was me! I wrapped it in soft clouds, and tucked it in safely at night. Then I made a playpen for it, a strong playpen so it couldn’t run loose,And said, ‘Stay here, this is your place. Your wild tantrums are confined to this place.’ You can read more at Job 38.
I am very grateful that God is in control and I am not. This past year and a half of surgeries and hard news did not come at a surprise to God. Without him being thecornerstone of my life I would have had no idea how to navigate through these waters.
I am now that much more grateful for my voice, my facial structure, modern medicine, bike chains that can be dubbed as jaw bones, family & friends, doctors & nurses, and most especially the fact that I am not in control and it is ok that I don’t have it all together. It is in Him that we live and breathe and move and it is in Him that I will continue to put my hope for all my days to come.
Have you thanked God for a loved one today? Have you thanked God for mobility in your jaw today? Have you thanked God for his amazing ability to hold the world in His hands?
Perspective is everything.
